Head Coach: Christina Jost (2nd season)
Email: cjost@ozarks.edu
Christina Jost enters her second season as head women's basketball coach. Jost is one of the few coaches in Ozarks' history to lead their team to the post-season in their first year as head coach. Jost has been the assistant coach the past two seasons at Ozarks where she helped the team to the American Southwest Conference playoffs last year. The Lady Eagles experienced one of the best turnarounds in NCAA III women's basketball a year ago, improving from four wins during the 2004-2005 season to twelve wins last season. Jost inherits a team that made the playoffs for the first time since the 2001-2002 season and finished with an 11-11 ASC record.
"This is a very prestigious institution," said Jost. "Ozarks is known for its academics. And you really get a sense of a family atmosphere here. The kids are not just another number." Jost will emphasis a game plan around strong defensive play. "I'm very defensive minded," said Jost. "We will focus more on the defensive end this year. But on the flip side, we will continue to push the ball and keep an up-tempo offensive style. Expectations are set even higher after making the playoffs last season."
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jost earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1999 from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Education from Arkansas Tech University. In addition to her collegiate coaching experience at Ozarks, Jost was the assistant girl's basketball coach at John Hersey High School in Illinois for two seasons. Jost has worked as a camp counselor at numerous basketball camps around the country including Dominican University (Ill.), Northwestern University (Ill.) and West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was also the assistant softball coach at Ozarks during the 2006 season. She played four years at West Virginia Wesleyan College where she served as team captain from 1997-1999. Jost is a member of the National Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
