Four Reach Double Figures In Win
Release Date: 02/13/2010
Clarksville, Ark.-Four Lady Eagles reached double figures in their 79-67 win over UT-Tyler Saturday in American Southwest Conference play in Tyler, Texas.
Ozarks (6-16, 4-13 ASC) rolled out to a 43-29 lead at the half behind 12 points from Sabrina Goddard and 11 points from Alison Villines. Goddard sank two of her eight free throws in the first half at the 6:36 mark to give Ozarks its first double-digit lead. The Lady Eagles kept that momentum the remainder of the half, and held a 38-23 advantage with 2:32 to go. Villines drilled one of her three three-pointers in the first half with 13 seconds left to help the Lady Eagles to their 14-point halftime lead.
UT-Tyler (10-12, 8-9 ASC) cut the deficit to five points twice in the second half, but that would be as close as they could get. The Patriots cut it to 52-47 at the 11:24 mark, but Villines drained a shot from behind the arc to quickly erase a Patriot comeback. The Patriots made another run later that put the score at 62-57 with 6:53 remaining, however, Ozarks answered with a 9-0 run, capped by an April Young three-pointer with 4:15 left.
Goddard finished with 22 points. Villines followed with 16 points, and Ashley Teague had 14 points. Chelsea Glasscock added 13 points.
Ozarks will end the season against LeTourneau University February 18 and East Texas Baptist University February 20.
