Lane Loyd begins his first year as the head cross country coach at Ozarks. Loyd has assistant coaching experience at the NCAA I, NCAA II and NCAA III level and nine years of high school head coaching experience in Texas. Loyd served as the assistant cross country coach and men’s assistant basketball coach at Ouachita Baptist University (1991-93), Lipscomb University (1993-94) and East Texas Baptist University (2000-01) prior to coming to Ozarks. The Longview, Texas, native made his mark in the Texas high school ranks, having earned 1A-3A division Coach of the Year three times. During his time as a head basketball and cross country coach, 12 of his teams won the district championship and 57 of his players earned All-District honors. He coached one state championship team and two regional championship teams during his tenure, while having 19 All-Region players and 12 All-State performers. Seven of his athletes went on to compete at the NCAA level. An avid long-distance runner, Loyd is training for his first marathon, running 40-50 miles per week. Loyd earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Austin College in 1990. He and his wife, Denise, have one son, Chiam.
